BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS
GUILD SPRING SHOW SPLENDID EXHIBITION A very large attendance of the public gathered: at the Parish Hall, Paeroa, on Thursday to admire the splendid exhibition' at the annual spring show staged by St. Paul’s Church Ladies’ Guild. The entries were large, especially in the decorative section which surpassed l displays, at previous shows.
A table of flowers attractively arranged by Mrs H. iPeart was very much admired and there was also a display of blooms by Mr L. Havill.
Afternoon, tea was served to those present and mesdames W. Aston and G. W. Wild sang two duets which were greatly enjoyed. A sales table did good business.
The flowers were ably judged by Miss E. Rickard who made the following awards:— Daffodils, 6 blooms.—Mrs J. L. Brown 1, Mrs A. Vosper 2. Daffodils, 3 blooms. —Mrs J. L. Brown 1, Mrs J. L. Brown and Mrs A. Vosper, equal, 2. Narcissi.—Mrs Peploe 1. Anemones, 6 single.—Mrs R. Hubbard 1, Mrs A. Vosper 2. Anemones, 6 double.—Mrs C. N. O’Neill 1, Mrs A. Vosper 2. Iceland poppies, 12 blooms. —Mrs L. Landman 1, Mrs G. W- Wild 2; Hyacinths, 3 blooms. —Mrs L. Landman 1, Mrs R.. L. Darley 2. Stock, 3 double spikes.—Mrs W. Pearson 1, Mrs G| Masters 2. Freesias, 13 blooms. —Mrs H. 0. Walker 1, Mrs H. Shaw 2. Coloured freesias, 6 blooms.—Mrs W. Pearson 1, Mrs H. 0. Walker 2. Polyanthus, 6 blooms.—Mrs H. Henton 1, Mrs Brigham 2. Marigolds, 6 blooms.—Mrs V. L. Bagge 1. Wallflower, 6 heads.—Mrs W. Pearson 2.
