COMING-OF-AGE PARTY
FUNCTION AT NETHERTON MRS G. E. S’A'R’JANT ENTERTAINS In the Netherton Hall recently a pleasant afternoon was given by Mrs G. E. Sarjant to celebrate the twentyfirst birthday of her daughter Muriel. The hall was tastefully decorated for the occasion. Miss Rae Landman of Auckland.was the M.'O. , Items during the afternoon were songs, “That’s All,” “When Song Is Sweet,” by Mrs Clark, Turua; songs, “Mother Machree,” “Passing By,” Mrs C. K. Fox, Turua; duet, “Perfect Day,” Mrs Clank and Mrs Fox. Competitions during the afternoon were won by Mrs R. Morrison, Mrs H. Prout, Mrs J. Paul, Misses Joyce Quinn, Valerie Paul. Toasts honoured were: — “The King”; “Absent Friends,” Miss R. Landman; “Guest of Honour,” Mrs Reid; “Grandparents,” Mrs Morrison. Miss Gloria Turner, cousin of Muriel, presented her with a pink posie, expressing the hope that this would be the loveliest birthday she had ; ever had and that Muriel would have many more years of happiness to come. Muriel in replying thanked' her parents for giving her such a wonderful birthday afternoon and extended thanks also to the many friends who had assisted in making the afternoon the success it was.
'Candles were then lit on the cake made by Mrs 1 G. E. Sarjant and beautifully iced l in pink by Mt Les Havill of Paeroa.
