licences reviewed AUTHORITY SITS IN THAMES A large number of goods service renewal licences which had expired were among the many applications heai'd by the No. 1 Transport Licensing Authority at a sitting in the Thames Courthouse yesterdnv aCer noon. Mr E. J. Phelan was the authority and the secretary Mr P. L. Page. Also present were Messrs (’. D. Treadgold. chief traffic inspector: D. Shankland, chief vehicle inspector: N. (J. Angus, representing the Commissioner of
Transport: H. S. Taylor, the Rehabilitation Department, Auckland; and AV. F. F. Andrew, the Railways Department. In opening the sitting. Mr Phelan explained that all licences had expired on March 28 and would have to be renewed. If a proprietor had a spare licence he would be helping the returned soldier if he handed it over to him. Air Phelan went on to state that any new licences must go to the returned servicemen. Following were renewals granted:— Anderson and Sons, Ahimia; 11. P. Buchanan, Thames; T. Corbett was granted. A new application was granted for R. H. AVilkinson to operate at Waitakaruru. The application was not opposed.
