NEW BOWLING GREEN

| (To the Editor.) i Sir, —This little town of ours has a very nice domain encircled l by many lovely trees. Those trees were planted there many years ago to beautify and J give shade and shelter to all who used the grounds for sport. I did hear at the last A. &. ; P. Show that the grounds were just a nice size, ; not too large and not too small, with ideal shelter from winds and good shade for the animals. 'Now lam cur- j ions to know why this is to be spoiled by the bowling club getting a piece for another green. Were they not offered land elsewhere to expand their club and why was it not accepted? Surely there is no need for them to encroach on the grounds set aside for other sports. If they desire to expand I suggest that they acquire propertv j of their own the same as the tennis clubs. It is very unfair to take something from a person without the consent of the party and the party is the .people of Paeroa. (Where are the visiting motorists to park cars on show days and where are they to sit in the shade for lunch if the corner that is generally used by them is taken away? If the various sports clubs were asked to vote on this matter I tTnffß that the majority would be of the same mind as myself. White pants and striped blazers have no interest for the children so let them have their own grounds to play in.—l am, etc., SPORT FOR SPORTS.
