.Staff-Sergeant G. C. Marshall, of Coromandel, has been awarded the British Empire Medal for service rendered during operations in Italy. His father is Mr F. A. Marshall of Coromandel.
Cpl. iF. Olsen and his wife are the guests of Mr and iMrg' L. Armstrong, Whitianga. Mrs Olsen is a sister of Mr Armstrong and her husband recently returned to New. Zealand after serving with the 'Eighth Army for some years. (Lieut. B. Olsen, who was head teacher at Kaimarama School before enlisting', is a brother. Among the list of prisoners l of war to return to New Zealand is Sergeant W. H. ‘Debenham, brother of Mr W. Debenham, Mercury Bay, and Sergeant R. King whose wife is a daughter of Mr T. Cannon.
Advice has been received that Lieutenant Bill Donovan of Whenuakite, is making progress at No. 3 'General Hospital.
Trooper I. 'Brophy has advised his parents at Mercury Bay that he is now discharged from hospital and is at a convalescence camp.
