ARMED FORCES BOARD

SITTING HELD AT NGATEA

A sitting of the Armed Forces Appeal Board was held at Ngatea on Thursday when appeals on behalf of employees in dairy factories on the Hauraki Plains were dealt with. The chairman, Mr Edwin Edwards, presided and associated with him were Messrs A. H. Blackmore, E. J. Wilton and Mr G. W. Pringle, acting for the secretary, Mr R. W. Chappell.

In a number of cases affecting employees of the New Zealand Co-op-erative Dairy Company, decision was reserved and these will be dealt with after all appeals by the company have been heard.

The following were the appeals heard on Thursday:— New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, Ngatea factory.—R. N. Allen, decision reserved; R. E. Bartley, appeal withdrawn, reservist not to be called before April 15, 1945; R. L. G. Fowler, appeal withdrawn, reservist not to be called before April 15, 1945; F. A. Conlain, reserved; R. J. Grimmer, reserved; J. P. King, adjourned sine die; R. C. Tate, reserved; O. K. Bishop, reserved; H. J. Lee, appeal withdrawn; I. Strand, reseiwed.

New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, Waitakaruru factory.—H. G. Baucke, withdrawn; L. A. Brown, appeal withdrawn; M. H. Chinn, adjourned sine die; G. R. Christopferson, reserved; G. Yeager, adjourned sine die.

New Zealand Co-operative Daily Company’s Huirau road factory.—W. R. Carson, adjourned sine die.

New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company’s Kopuarahi factory.—J. M. Gardner, re-board arranged; A. F. Symes, adjourned .sine die.

New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company’s Netherton factory.—N. Lockley, reserved; B. McCarthy, appeal dismissed, reservist not to be called before April 30, 1945; J. F. Sexton, appeal dismissed as< from March 31, 1945. .

Hauraki Plains Co-operaitive Dairy Company, Turua. —‘C. Allen, appeal dismissed as from March 31, 1945; G. G. Boyd, adjourned sine die; E. A. Challis, appeal dismissed, reservist not to be called before April 20, 1945; M. S. Doddrell, appeal dismissed, reservist not to be called before April 20, 1945; F. G. Millan, appeal dismissed; D. E. Goble, appeal dismissed, reservist not to be called before April 20, 1945; J. B. Mills, adjourned sine die; J. Pye, adjourned sine die; L. J. H. Peterson, adjourned sine die; A. E. Simmons, adjourned sine die, now a married man with three children; G. Vercoe, appeal dismissed, reservist not to be called fore April 30, 1945. Decision was reserved in the appeal of the Hauraki Plains' County Council for their water works supervisor, Mr J. Bradford, of Ngatea.

Decision was reserved in the appeal of J. Durman, of Kerepeehi, school bus. proprietor and taxi proprietor. The appeal of S. D. Neale, of Waitakaruru. was dismissed for lack of prosecution. The appeal of G. Rawson, carrier and cream contractor of Kaihei’e, was adjourned sine die, reservist now being a married man with three children.
