A QUIET MONTH

PRIMARY PRODUCTION

report on activity The past month has been very quiet indeed, and little of any importance has had to be dealt with, said the secretary, Mr J. E. Green, in his report to the Thames District Council of Primary Production on Thursday. The Christmas and New Year holidays were the main cause for this', as it was only just over a fort-night from the date of the last meeting to Christmas. He had visited Paeroa twice during the month, once to attend before a sitting of the Appeal Board on an ur ■ gent appeal. One application for a recommendation to purchase timber for the erection of a new cowshed had been received. Six applications for farm implements had. been received and d'ealt with. Important circular letters had been received from the National Council, Wellington on the subject of gumlboot supplies and manpower for farms. No advice had yet been received' of the payment of the first instalment of the council’s grant for the current year, but the intervention of the holidays might be the cause of this.

Present were: Messrs S. E. Hall (chairman), W. Hamilton, C. W. Schultz, W. H. Cheale, G. Coxhead, H. S. Curtis, with Mr R. W. Chappell representing the National Service Department and Mr C. Walker the Department of Agriculture.
