ADDITION TO THE DISTRICT NGAHIWI MAJOR GORDON PURCHASED BY MR G. H. HILL A bull .of outstanding breeding that should be an asset to the district from a production point of view has recently been purchased by Mr G. H. Hill of Three Oaks, Tirohia, from the well-known pedigree Jersey breeder of Waitara, Mr J. W. Freeth. Ngahiwi Major Gordon (the bull’s registered name) is sired by the imported bull Major Sybil Design, a bull selected in U.S.A, by Mr C. E. Robertson of Wright 'Stephenson & Co., Ltd., because of his wonderful dam, Design’s Geneva. Designs’s Geneva is classified “excellent” and has the following records: —5'82 lb. fat; 10.092 lb. milk at three years, 635 lb. fat. 10,68'5 lb. milk at four years, 540 lb. fat; in 305 days at seven years, 462 lb. fat; in 305 days at eight years, was 1 an outstanding show cow and was by the famous sire Design’s Fern

Oxford from the champion producer of Tennessee for 1928, 667 lb. fat, Raleigh’s Geneva. The young bull claims for his dam the outsanding dairy cow Ngahiwi Romance’s Glory, H.C. .She has the following records:—G.H.T. 510 lb. fat, three years; G.H.T. 452 lb. fat, four years; G.H.T. 673 lb- fat, five years; G.H.T. 50'8 lb. fat, six years; and under C.O.R. this season approximately 650-700 lb. fat. She claims for her sire the Dreaming Sam bull Meon Naunau, Cj8.8., who this year will have ill C.O.R. daughters averaging approximately 675 lb. fat and 10 classified daughters, two VJH.C’s. and eight H.C’s. Incidentally his son’s daughters have been sold up to 250 gns., and daughters of his full brother, Meon Lucifer, sold up to 425 gns. Romance’s Glory’s dam is Ngahiwi Romance’s Dainty, 52® lb. fat at two , years who is one of the four daughters of Ngahiwi Romance, 622 lb. fat at two years (bronze medallist) that averaged 515 lb. fat as two-year-olds. Ngahiwi Romance’s Glory, H.C., is bred from the great “Romance” family who have produced Ngahiwi Romantic, 734 lb. fat., 'Ngahiwi Lady Romance B'3'4 lb. fat and 6'25 lb. fat at

two years, silver, bronze and special gold medals; iNgahiwi Silver Link, V.H.C., 754 lb. fat at four years, special gold medal; Ngahiwi Romance’s Fairy, H.C., 779 lb. fat, bronze and special gold medals besides numerous other high producers. The great “Romance” family are all wonderful producers.
