j GOOD DETECTIVE FILM PROGRAMME AT REGENT NOVELTY IN MYSTERY THRILLS A blind detective and a “seeing eye” dog provide a novelty in mystery thrills in “Eyes In The Night,” w’hich, with ‘ Edward Arnold, Ann Harding and Dionna Reed will show at the Regent Theatre on Tuesday and Wednesday. Arnold as the blind sleuth battles enemies in darkness, relying on his sense of hearing, foils a spy ring and solves a murder, utilising hearing, touch and instinct with which blind persons make up for lack of sight.' The story deals with an inventor, played by Reginald 'Denny, his wife, played by Ann Harding, recently returned to the screen, and Donna Reedl An actor, Donna Reed is. interested in, is murdered, the latter suspects her stepmother, whom she hates/. Arnold' is called in. He traces the murder to a spy ring watching Denny and seeking the secret of his war invention. The gang finally imprisons Arnold, Denny, and his family in their home. Arnold fights the gang in the dark, while his dog escapes and gets a note to the authorities. A dramatic climax solves the mystery and. reconciles the two,.women. Fred Zinnemann directed the difficult story with deft skill.
