VISIT TO PAEROA

TOUR OF THE ELECTORATE PAEROA-PATETONGA ROAD HON. C. F. SKINNER’S ITINERARY The following is the proposed itinerary of the Hon. C. F. .Skinner, Minister of Rehabilitation and Lands while in the Thames electorate from May I'6 to ‘May 18 inclusive. The Minister will be accompanied by Mr J. Thorn, M.P. for Thames. ■Details: — Tuesday, May 16.—Arrive Auckland 9.30 a.m., and with Mr J. Thorn, MjP., leave immediately for Whenuapai Aerodrome. Leave 10.30 a.m. for Great Barrier Aerodrome, ar live approximately I'l a.m. There meet Barrier Island county councillors. At 11.45 a.m. leave by car for Port Fitz-, roy, having lunch at Mi’ T. 'H. Ovei,ton’s on way. Return to aerodrome mediately to Whenuapai. Leave for Thames on arrival at Whenuapai. Arrive Thames 7.30 i p.m. At 8 p.m. meet in Thames, Rehabilitation Committee members, Borough Advisory Council, Executive R.S.A., Executive Chamber of Commerce, Executive Labour Party, representatives Thames County Council. Address for 30 minutes, then general discussion and questions.

Wednesday, May 17.—Leave Thames 8.30 a.m. for Miss Cribb’s, Puriri. Endeavour to be back in Thames 9.30 a.m. Then start for Coromandel, arriving about 11 a.m., morning, tea about 20 minutes. At 11.30 a.m. meet local members Rehabilitation Committee and chairman,. clerk and engineer, County Council. Lunch at 1 p.m. Start immediately for Whangapoua and from Whangapoua go to Mercury 'Bay where stay the night. At Mercury Bay the chairman and another member of the Coromandel Rehabilitation Committee, who live in the district, may meet the Minister in the evening.

Thursday, May 18.—Leave Mercury Bay at 9 a.m. Meet Mr M. Minifie, chairman, Coromandel Rehabilitation Committee at Coroglen about 9.30 a.m., then on to Whenuakite to meet Mr Wm. Hamilton, another member of . the committee. Endeavour leave Whenuakite 11.15 a.m. at latest for Hikuai Returned Soldier Settlement (about 20' miles distant). Lunch with settlers, Hikuai Hall, and proceed to Puketui, to inspect land. On leaving Hikuai’ proceed to Paeroa, via Waih (about 45 miles).

Friday, May 19.—Inspect in company with Mr A. Sutherland, M.P., and representatives of Paeroa Chamber of Commerce and Patetonga Road Committee, project to construct road from iPatetonga to Paeroa. Mr Thorn returns to Wellington by Limited express that evening. MEMBER’S ACTIVITIES COMING VISITS OF MINISTERS Mr James Thorn, M.P., will arrive in Thames on Saturday morning next and in the afternoon will leave for Coromandel. On Sunday Mr Thorn will pay a visit to the Cape Colville area of the electorate to inspect works now in progress. On Monday Mr Thorn will return to Thames to join the Hon. A. Nordmeyer, Minister of Health, who will arrive that morning from Rotorua. Mr Nordmeyer and Mr, Thorn will meet members of the hospital board in the morning, and in the afternoon will confer with the board mem'bers and representatives of the contributing authorities with reference to problems related to the proposed reconstruction of the main hospital buildings. At the conclusion of this conference Mr Thom will leave for Auckland where the following morning he will meet the Hon. C. F. Skinner, Minister of Rehabilitation and Lands, and from Auckland commence a thTee-day tour of the electorate. BOROUGH DEPUTATION MINISTER TO BE SHOWN ROUTE At the May meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council a deputation comprising His Worship the Mayor, Mr Edwin Edwards and Crs. H. M. iShand, C. C. Webb, F. Sparks, W. Smith, was appointed to meet the Minister of Lands and Rehabilitation, the Hon. C. F. Skinner, when he visits the dis- • trict. this month to consider the possibility of constructing a direct road between Paeroa and Patetonga. It was decided to contact the Paeroa Chamber of Commerce to arrange a programme to show the Minister the possibilities of the route and the surrounding land.
