AVERAGE RAIN

WEATHER FOR APRIL WET YEAR IN PAEROA 19.79 INCHES OF RAIN TO DATE Although the month just ended seemed a particularly wet one the total rainfall was merely average for April, being 4.62 inches compared with 4.25 inches, the average for April taken over the last 31 years. The rainfall for April, 1943, was 3.41 inches. For the four months ended April 30 the rainfall was 19.79 inches compared with the average of 15.46 for the same period. ißain fell on 20 days during- April but on no occasion was the fall heavy, the highest recorded being .7 inches, .7'7 inches and .82 inches on April 7, 2'5 and 29 respectively. Sunshine was recorded on 11 days during the month, the reading being taken at 9 a.m. each day. One fog was experienced, on. April 14. Barometric’ pressure showed little fluctuation, the lowest record .’being 29.45 inches on April 30 while the highest was registered at 30.10 inches on both April 15 and 16.

There was considerable variation in readings from the thermometer, the highest being 68 degrees on April 1 while the lowest, 54 degrees, was recorded on April 14 and 24'. A comparison of the rainfall since April, 1914, is as follows: —
