KEEN DEMAND AT KOPU LARGE BENCH OF BUYERS A large bench of buyers from surrounding districts and also from Opotiki, Waikato, Pukekohe and ’Bombay, provided steady competition for a large yarding of heifers at the first special heifer sale to be held at Kopu by Messrs' Dalgety and Co. Quality cattle in good condition showing forward, elicited keen competition, the best price of the day being £l2 17s 6d for three well done heifers. A pen of eight well-bred Jersey heifers, sold at £ll for the line, a Papakura buyer securing these. Several pens of quality Jerseys realised from £lO to £lO 15s for the lines. Friesian and Friesian-cross heifers' were also in demand and sold to £lO 10s; smaller and backward cattle were as usual harder to quit but in the main were disposed of at satisfactory prices. Quotations:— Jersey heifers, good, £lO to £l2 17s 6d; Jersey heifers, medium, £7 15s to £9ss; Jersey heifers, small and backward, £5 10s to £6 15s; Friesian heifers, good, to £lO 10s; Friesian heifers, good l but backward, £7 10s to £8 15s; Jersey-Ayrshire cross, good, £lO ss; Shorthorn heifers ,good, £9 15s; Jer-sey-Shorthorn cross, good, £8 15s to £9 ss; Shorthorn heifers, backward, £5 15s to £6 10s.
