MEETING IN COROMANDEL — DONATION TO ORPHANAGES z The monthly meeting of the Coromandel branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held in the Catholic Schoolroom on Saturday, October 30. Mrs Anderson presided and opened the meeting with the reading of the Creed. After the Correspondence and business relating to it had been discussed it was decided to hold a Paddy’s Market during December, the proceeds to be divided equally between the rest home and division funds. It was resolved that a donation of £2 2s 0d be sent to the Orphanages Appeal Committee. < A report on the visit of the Dominion president, Mrs Orr, to Coromandel, was read by Mrs R. M. Turner. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mrs .Turner for her report; also to Miss B. Wilson for her able assistance in connection with Mrs Orr’s visit.— Carried unanimously with acclamation. The roll call which was “An economical hint for wartime,” was poorly answered and it was hoped that members will do better 'next time. The roll call for next month will be “An economical recipe under butter rationing conditions.” The meeting closed with the National Anthem. Afternoon' tea was served by Mesdames McKenzie and W. Turner.
