MEETING AT WHITIANGA

OFFICERS FOR YEAR ELECTED

The annual meeting of the Whitianga Patriotic Committee was held in the Public Hall, Whitianga, on October 4, when the chairman, Mi’ Pooley, presided. Mr Pooley reviewed the activities of the past year. The work of the Patriotic Committee had been particularly splendid-during the last year, and it is generally appreciated that all patriotic workers have carried out duties with creditable performance. The financial balance was read and accepted, the balance-sheet reading as follows:—

After the reading of the balancesheet, nominations were called for the positions of chairman, secretary and committee, the result being Mr Pooley, re-elected chairman, Mrs Brophy’ elected secretary, upon the retirement of Mrs Russell. The following were re-elected committee members: Mesdames Sewell, Walker, Brophy, K. White, A. White, Armstrong, Heald and Russell, Messrs R. Smith, Pooley, Brophy and A. White.

It was proposed and carried that Mesdames Norton, A. Simpson and Mr A. Simpson be added to the Patriotic Committee.

It was agreed that Mrs Sewell be in charge of the catering for social arrangements.

It was proposed by Mr Brophy and seconded by Mrs Sewell that the secretary write to Mr Lucas, Coromandel, regarding Whitianga’s quota of 20 parcels. It was agreed that the next patriotic meeting ibe held on the first Monday in November and then each following month.
