A GOOD RESPONSE
WASTE PAPER AND RUBBER
HOUSE-TO-HOUSE COLLECTION A very successful house-to-house collection for waste paper and rubber was made in Paeroa on Saturday when a large amount of material was collected from both business premises and private houses. The collection which had been organised by the Paeroa District Patriotic Committee was made by members of the Returned Services Association, assisted by the Paeroa Boy Scouts, the Simons Proprietary, Paeroa Borough Council and the Ohinemuri County Council kindly loaning their trucks for the work.
In addition to the large amount of waste paper recovered the collectors again brought back a valuable quantity of waste rubber consisting mainly of old tyres and perished hot-water bottles.
Due to good organisation and the co-operation of the public the whole collection was completed before midday.
