MILITARY BALL

OVER 400 PATRONS ATTEND SUCCESSFUL EVENING MUSIC A SPECIAL FEATURE Over 400 patrons attended the Military Ball held in the Regent Ballroom. Paeroa. on Wednesday night, Che function being organised by the Paeroa All Services Chib. Music supplied by Neddo and his Swing Kings of Auckland was greatly appreciated, enthusiasts keeping the orchestra at their task until the early hours of the morning. The programme was opened with a grand march led by Col. T. R. Dawe and Miss N. McFarlane. Monte Carlos were won by Miss B. Ansell and Sgt. Nicholls and Miss R. Fisher and Mr Fred Hopping. Bath spot dances were won by the same couple, Mr and Mrs A. Storey of Puriri.

During the evening Miss E. Royall entertained with vocal items accompanied by the orchestra and Corp. G. Hale (W.A.A.C.), and Mr R. Dalton supplied extra. A special feature of the evening was a novelty Hawaiian number, ‘‘Mauwee Chimes” played by the orchestra.

Messrs P. Caisley and W. Townley made very efficient M’s.C. An efficient buffet supper was served all agreeing the function was among the best held for some time. Among those present were:—
