OBITUARY
MRS ANN BOWMAN GREATLY ESTEEMED OLD LADY The death recently of Mrs Ann Bowman at the age of 77 years caused a blank in the lives of many in> the district of Whitianga, Mercury Bay. This well-known and greatly esteemed lady, left behind her a memory only of tenderness and love created during her life of service for others. By many acts of kindness to the sick in Mercury Bay, Mrs Bowman won a place in the hearts of all with whom she came in contact. In her younger days, the late Mrs Bowman lived in Tairua and later moved to Mercury Bay, residing in the district until the time of her death. Since the outbreak of the war Mrs Bowman worked hard for her soldier “boys” and they were always uppermost in her thoughts. Requiem Mass was celebrated by Rev. Father Flynn of Coromandel who was assisted by the Rev. Father Lyons of Thames. The funeral cortege was largely attended by all the district and relatives of the deceased, the pall-bearers being members of the I.M.R. Mrs Bowman is survived by her husband, two sons and two daughters.
