£50 INVESTED

PAEROA BOWLING CLUB NATIONAL SAVINGS SUPPORTED A proposal to invest £5O in the 3rd. Liberty Loan was made at Wednesday night’s meeting of the Paeroa Bowling Club by the treasurer, Mr G. Stewart. He suggested that a bearer debenture be taken out and lodged with the club’s bank. Mr W. Morrison suggested that the club invest in the National Savings instead of the loan as the money would not then be tide up for so long a period. The president, Mr C. C. Webb, said he had discussed the question of the various avenues of investment —Liberty Loan, National Sayings or Post Office Savings Bank—with the treasurer and it* seemed the loan was the most satisfactory. The Mayor, Mr Edwin Edwards, spoke in favour of investing in the National Savings, pointing out that the money would not be tied up so long and would bear a good rate of interest. Mr R. A. Mace also spoke in support of National Savings, pointing out that in the loan the money would be tied up for 10 to 13 years. It was decided to invest £5O in National Savings and to place a further £5O in the Post Office Savings Bank.
