S. Sutherland, M.P. for Hauraki, when speaking in the House of Representatives last week. •Speaking on the question of native development schemes Mr Sutherland said: — “I should like to say a few words about native development. There is. great scope for native development in New Zealand. The natives own large tracts of land which are lying undeveloped. I had a lot to do with them in the north and with a little encouragement, financial assistance, and good supervision, they make really good farmers.”
