TEAM FOR AUCKLAND GREAT EASTERN RD. RACE WAIKATO CHAMPIONSHIPS On Saturday a harrier team chosen to represent the 'Paeroa Harrier Club will travel to Auckland to compete in the first open road race ol ■ the Great Eastern Road Ra .. The team comprises M. \ JSharp (captain), T. Morrison, G. Vuglar, J. Fowler and M .Wallon., The team is confident of making a forward showing in the teams’ race. The race will be run over a samile road course starting from the Pakaranga Hall and finishing at Ellerslie. The contest, which was inaugurated in 1932, has attracted

good entries and 100 harriers will be on the mark for the 1943 event. W. J. Potter, last . year’s winner, will again be starting together with several. past winners and a very interesting contest should be witnessed. Waikato Championships At a meeting of the Waikato subcentre, held on Wednesday night in Hamilton, the Paeroa Harrier Ciub was granted permission to conduct the 1943 Waikato Harrier Crosscountry Championships in Paeroa on a date to be arranged later. The chairman of the sub-centre, Mr H. Sommers, extended his congratulations to the Paeroa club on its initiative in inaugurating a harrier club during this difficult wartime period and wished the club and members a very successful season. Saturday’s Run The usual weekly run will be held from the Paeroa Domain grandstand on Saturday at 3 p.m. All members and intending members are urged to attend.
