PUMP FLOOD WATER

REQUEST FROM WAITAKARURU WATER OVER STOPBANK A request for permission to install a small flood pump to carry water over the stopbank from his property on Miranda road, Waitakaruru, was received at Wednesday’s meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council from Mr T. A. Hibell. Mr Hibell wrote as under:—

“I wish to install a small flood pump at the end of my drain so that I can pump the water over the stopbank on to the side of the road if your council had. no objection. Would you put in some small pipes undei’ the road so as to carry the water away out onto the beach.

“If I install this pump it will greatly relieve the county drain and assist other farmers as well. I wish to install the pump as my farm is very wet during the winter and I am unable to get the water off the place under the present conditions. I have to contend with water coming off the hills at' the back of my farm and sometimes the water is a foot deep over half the property. “ I would be grateful if you can assist me in this matter by allowing me to install the pump.” The engineer, Mr J. C. Clark, said that a six-inch pipe was all that could be installed at -that point. The matter was left in ‘the hands of the chairman, Mr C. W. Parfitt, the engineer and Mr F. Pinchess with power to act.
