COUNTY COUNCIL TOSS TWO TENDERS EQUAL VOLUNTEER ENCAMPMENT (From the Ohinemuri Gazette of April 9, 1903.) It is not often that two tenderers put in the same price but this happened at the County Council 'meeting last week. W. Scott and E. Short both tendered for supplying Bbo cubic yards of metal on the main road and the price put in by each of them was £2lO. The chairman said that the only fair way of deciding who was to get the contract was to toss up a coin. “Heads” for Scott, and “tails” for Short, said the chairman, and councillors looked eagerly at the coin as it descended. It came “tails” and Short accordingly got the contract. * * * *
