HARVEST FESTIVAL

NGATEA METHODIST CHURCH FUNCTION AT SALE OF GOODS Exceptionally well-attended harvest festival services were conducted ■by the Rev. Everill Orr at the Ngatea Methodist Church on Sunday, April 4.

The following evening a sale of goods was held in the Ngatea Public Hall, the resulting proceeds of which must have been very gratifying. Mr E. R. Sherlock carried out the duties of auctioneer with considerable merit.

A most enjoyable programme consisting of the following items proceeded the sale of the’ produce:— Sailors’ Hornpipe and clog tap, by Colleen Pierce; humour, “Ladies’ .Sewing Circle” and “A Foreigner at the Telephone,” Mr E. Cocks; vocal duet, “List To The Convent Bells,” encore “Sierra Sue,” Misses Nola and Dawn Sherlock; solos, “The Fishermen of England” and “I’ll Walk Beside You,” Rev. Everill Orr.

Miss Joyce Cocks, Mr Smith, Mr E. Cocks and Mr F. Pierce played the accompaniments.

Community singing conducted by the Rev. Orr was a feature of the evening’s entertainment. ;A delicious supper was served by the ladies of the church.
