NOBODY ON FARM

MAN NOT RELEASED FROM CAMP

PRODUCTION COUNCIL CASE

An instance where a farm carrying 45 cows and 200 sheep had been without a man on the property for several weeks was quoted at Thursday’s meeting of the Thames Primary Production Council by Mr D. Courtney. Mr Courtney stated that the owner of the property had appealed to the Armed Forces Appeal Board to secure a suitable man to look after the farm.

Eventually a married man with three children who was at present in camp had agreed to work the property and as a result of an appeal the Armed Forces Appeal Board had recommended the release of this man.

To date nothing had resulted and the farm was without anybody in charge of it. Members agreed that such a case was urgent and required immediate action.
