SPIRITED DEMAND

HEIFERS CLOSE TO PROFIT

MORRINSVILLE SALE VALUES

The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, reports’ that at their weekly Morrinsville stock sale on Friday a small entry of fat sheep, comprising mostly of fat hoggets, came forward. Late rates .were realised. Improved prices were paid for forward conditioned and store hoggets, while breeding ewes maintained late rates. A small yarding of beef met strong competition from a large bench of buyers and sold freely. A good offering of boners again showed a further advance in prices. Empty Jersey heifers were also in demand, whilst yearling heifers sold readily.

A full yarding of ■ dairy heifers, with quality animals close to profit, creating a spirited demand. Top price of the. sale was £l5 15s. Backward animals also improved in value. Another full yarding of both fat and store pigs, together with a large penning of breeding sows came forward. Competition for stores and baconers was particularly keen and prices! in advance of recent quotations. On a whole the quality of the sows offering was not up to the usual standard, many backward sorts being included in the yarding. Good quality sows, close to farrowing, sold readily but inferior sorts were not wanted. 'Quotations: —
