KITCHEN EVENING
MISS P. LOCKE HONOURED TWO PRESENTATIONS MADE • A very enjoyable kitchen evening in honour of Miss Peggy Locke was held in the Netherton Hall on Thursday evening last. There was an excellent attendance of residents from the Netherton district and also from Paeroa and Kerepeehi. ‘
Dancing was enjoyed, the music being supplied hy Mrs A, Laurent, Miss Sarjant, Miss -Briggs and Mrs R. Fisher.
A spot waltz was won by (Mr R. Fisher and Mrs A. Nicol and a Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mr J. Murphy and Miss M. Martin.
After supper Mr A. Mills on behalf of the Netherton Lodge presented Peggy with a beautiful tea waggon from fellow members of the lodge, with all good wishes. Miss M. Mclntosh on behalf of the Netherton Basketball Club presented the guest of the evening with two lovely hanging pictures with good wishes from all the girls. Peggy in replying expressed her gratitude for ’the lovely presents received and stated that she had thoroughly enjoyed her associations with the lodge and basketball club and was very sorry to be leaving the district. She was then called upon by Mr Mills to open the many useful kitchen gifts received from her many friends in Netherton. The evening was brought to a close with the singing of “Auld Lang iSyne” and “God Save the King.”
