SYMPATHY EXPRESSED
MEN IN THE CASUALTY LISTS
PAEROA PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE
Reference to the men from Paeroa and the surrounding district who have recently been posted as casualties by the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force was made by the Mayor, Mr Edwin Edwards, at Monday night’s meeting of the Paeroa District Patriotic Committee. Three men, he said, had made the supreme sacrifice while others had been listed as missing or wounded. He moved that a letter of condolence be sent to the relatives of those who had been killed in action expressing the sympathy of the committee with them in their sad loss. To the relatives of those listed as missing he instructed the secretary to write expressing the committee’s sympathy with the hope that good news would soon be received with assurances of their safety.
