RUGBY IN PAEROA
PROBLEM OF THE UNION
GAMES IN THE FUTURE FAREWELL TO MR K. C. NIBLOCK A meeting of the Paeroa Rugby Union was held in the office of Messrs K. C. Niblock and R. -Clark on Monday night, the chairman, Mr D. G. McMillan, presiding. Others present ent were Messrs J. Carmine, K. C. Niblock, G. Masters, W. F. F. Faber, R. L. Darley and the secretary, Mr R. Clark.
The secretary was instructed to write to the Thames Valley Rugby Union to enquire whether the Sharebrokers’ Cup would be played for this this season and if it was to be played for to urge the early commencement of the competition so as to keep interest alive among the players. It was felt that perhaps a game could be arranged by approaching the Paeroa All Services- Club, the matter being left in the hands of. Mr O’Loughlin. It was decided also to approach Kerepeehi and Hikutaia in an endeavour to arrange a match.
Mr McMillan pointed out that if games could not be arranged the union would have to go into recess until better times returned. The union had done all it could to keep the game going and considering the times was lucky to be in the position it was. There -being no further business the union then held an enjoyable social function in honour of Mr K. C. Niblock who is- shortly entering camp. Various members of the union expressed their appreciation to Mr Niblock for the work he had done for the union, the meeting closing with the singing of “For He’s a Jolly 'Good Fellow.”
