Place of Imprisonment.
In response to the request of a prisoner that -he should be imprisoned not at the Auckland prison, but at Waikeria or National Park, Mr Justice Callan said in Auckland that that was not a matter for a judge. “The place of imprisonment,” he said, “is a .matter which lies within the province of the persons who control the Prisons Department. If is not a matter over which the Judge has jurisdiction, and as a general rule it is not a matter upon which I think it wise to make a recommendation.”
