PAEROA TO DEFEND IT CHALLENGE BY THAMES RUGBY ON THE PAEROA DOMAIN Interesting football should again be seen on the Paeroa Domain on Saturday when the Paeroa Rugby Union’s representative team will defend the Johnston Cup against a challenge from Thames.
This is the second challenge of the season, the holders, Paeroa, successfully withstanding a challenge from Waihi a fortnight ago. Although the Thames team defeated Paeroa in a practice match played at Thames at the beginning of the season, the local team is now a much better combination and can be counted up‘on to give a good account of themselves. The teams will be as under:— Paeroa • Fullback.—C. iSpeechley. Three-quarters. —G. Vuglar, J. Murray, F. Beckett. Five-eighths.—K. Ryall, R. Baker. Half-back.—R. Pearson.'
Forwards.— J. Murphy, J. Tukaki, N. Hansen, J. Poland, Townley, J. Whitmore, W. Nevin, R. Fraser. Emergencies.—Forwards: W. Hopping, J. Finlay. Backs: W. McKain, Harrison, B. McNeil, T. Morrison.
