“A transformer station has been erected close to the Waihi Hospital in order to improve supply, a -100 kva. transformer being installed in lieu of,the 50 kva. transformer at the old site. The necessary changes were made in the 11,000 volt and Lt. lines, and smaller l.t. conductors were replaced by others of larger size. A 10-chain gap in the l.t. in Kensington street has been filled in order to complete a necessary ring, while four 35ft. and two 30ft. poles were replaced. “In Galbraith street, Waihi, 19i chains of small l.t. conductors were replaced by 7/14 while the street lighting wire was increased to 7/16 copper.. In Wrigley street, 16 chains of line -and in Margaret street, 8i chains of line were similarly treated, while four 30ft. poles in Wrigley street and two 30ft. poles in Margaret street were replaced, one 30ft. pole and one 25 ft. pole in submains were also replaced. Paeroa Borough “In Wharf street, Paeroa, 61 chains of 19/14 l.t. were replaced by 7/14 copper and the terminal poles were re-anchored. “A telephone hut from Waihi has been installed on the Te Aroha side of the Criterion bridge at Paeroa. “The 25 kva. pumping station transformer No. 556 has been brought in for overhaul, being replaced by another of the same capacity. “On Mill road, (Paeroa, 171 chains of two-phase wire were added in order to supply a new shed. “On the Ngatea-Kaihere section, 3Q chains of l.t. have been overhauled, cross-arms being braced and anchors on terminal poles renewed. Substation No. 432 at Smerle’s has been, rebuilt. “Transformer changes were made at Tirohia No. 565, a 25 kva. replacing a 10 kva. to handle increased loading; at Boom road, No. 430, a 25 kva. replacing to 15 kva. damaged in storm; and at Townsend’s road No. 530, a 25 kva. replacing a 15 kva. damaged in storm. Hikutaia-Kopu “The Hikutaia-Kopu 11 kv. main line is under overhaul. Six ; 6ft. and ten 8 ft. cross-arms, and two 35ft. and one 30ft. poles, have been replaced on the Matatoki-Kopu section. Section switches . have been installed at Puriri, while the '50 1 kva. transformer at No. 533 Matatoki has been brought in for overhaul, being, replaced by another of the same capacity. “Other maintenance included the replacement of one 35ft., one 30ft., and one service line poles, the shifting of a main pole at Thornton’s Bay, the overhaul of eight services lines and the addition of extra phases to seven other service lines, and treecutting on Thames road. Area General “The total number of service lines dealt with in the whole area during the period was 23 new service lines and 13 submains built, 32 service lines overhauled, and 15 to which extra phases were added. The number of poles replaced included 41 35fts., 42 30fts., eight 25fts., and 14 service line poles. “The overhauls which are being given to main lines during the offseason of the dairy industry have in- ' volved considerable travelling on the part of our limited staff, in order that there shall be minimum interruption to any one part. The schedule was well maintained, however, and provided the weather holds, the main lines should be in good order for the coming season. Tree-cutting is being carried out along the routes where work is 'being done.”
