LAUGH OF THE YEAR

“LOOK WHO’S LAUGHING”

PROGRAMME AT REGENT

NEWEST COMEDY OFFERING

One of the finest arrays of gloom chasers ever gathered together delivers the laughs in RKO Radio’s newest comedy offering, “Look Who’s Laughing,” which will show at the Regent Theatre on Tuesday and Wednesday. Radio comics Edgar Bergen, Charlie McCarthy, Fibber McGee and Molly and Hollywood’s blonde Lucille Ball, frolic through an uproarious story hand-fashioned for the particular brand of fun-making popularised by each player. The amusing plot is concerned with the plight of Fibber, a self-made man who is head of the Wistful Vista ■Chamber of Commerce. His futile struggles to make the townspeople induce an aeroplane manufacturer to build on the local airport keeps him squarely behind the well-known 8foall.

Edgar -Bergen, planning to get away from business worries tand forget that his pretty secretary, Lucille Ball, is going to marry, his business manager, takes his radio partner, Charlie McCarthy, on a flight to a vacation resort, but en route is forced down in Wistful Vista.

The McGee family take the pair in, and 'before long Bergen, much to the disgust of his “protege” who has a weakness for beautiful girls, interests himself in landing the airport contract.

The crooked activities of one Gildersleeve, a tool of a dishonest real estate man, to swing the contract for a rival village, further involve things. 'But Lucille Ball arrives and cleverly lays a trap for the crooks, helping' Fibber manoeuvre the deal for Wistful Vista. In the meantime matchmaking Molly steers Bergen and his pretty Girl Friday to the altar. Gome of the funniest moments, ill this laugh-show are the gag routines of the<four radio stars. Lee Bonnell, Dorothy Lovett, Neil Hamilton and Charles Halton also are seen in prominent supporting roles.
