KILLED OVERSEAS
SOLDIER FROM TOREHAPE
CORPORAL W. S. HEWSON
Advice was received by Mr and Mrs W. J. Hewson, of Sealey Street, Thames, during the week-end that their eldest son, Corporal William ■Selwyn Hewson, has been killed in an accident while serving with the New Zealand forces in the Middle East. Corporal Hewson, aged 39, was educated at the Puriri School and worked for the Lands' and Survey Department at Torehape, Hauraki Plains, 'before enlisting in the Second Echelon. Five Hewson brothers have served in the Army in this war. They were: Cyril, who was killed in action in the Middle East; Frederick John, who was wounded and who is still out of action; Ernest, the youngest, who is also in the Middle East; Ray, who is now in camp with the rank of secondlieutenant; and William Selwyn, now reported killed.
