IN CASE OF FIRE
MORE EXITS AT HOSPITAL MATTER TO BE INVESTIGATED Having heard read a letter from Mr Frank of the Thames Volunteer Fire Brigade, Mr Danby, at the monthly meeting of the Thames Hospital Board; moved that the board’s architect be consulted with a view to obtaining plans and an estimate of cost for provision of four additional exits from wards on the northern side of the Thames Hospital.
Mr Danby explained that he and the secretary, together with the medical superintendent and matron, had been over the hospital with Mr Wilton, and had heard his explanations as' to how a brigade would go about fighting a' fire.
The brigade, it appeared, would have to use the main corridor-for its hoses, etc.—in short, as its main base of operations. The extra doors were essential to give the staff and patients ample exit room so that they need not use the corridor in an emergency.
Mr M. A. Ellis seconded the motion, which was carried.
