Not To Protect Windows
Most of the overseas E.P.S. authorities are agreed that surgical gauze forms the best protection. against bomb-blast for windows, but it may never be seen in such operation in New Zealand. The Director-General of health has warned the Thames Hospital, in a circular lettei' sent to all Dominion Hospital Boards, that surgical gauze should not be used as an anti-shatter device on account of the extreme difficulty of obtaining supplies from overseas. The directorgeneral added that it was not intended to bring down a regulation on. the point.
