PAEROA RAILWAY STATION LARGE INCREASE IN YEAR 53,295 PASSENGERS HANDLED Big increases in the freight handled through the Paeroa Railway Station are shown in the figures for the year ended March 31, 1942/ when the total revenue amounted to £28,810 as compared with £25,940 for the previous year, an increase of £2870. Receipts from passengers who travelled from Paeroa by £1470 from £5624 during 1940-41 to £7094 for 1941-42. Revenue from goods also showed a large increase from £19,439 in 1940-41 to £20,868 in 1941-42 an increase of £1426. Parcels however decreased slightly, the revenue being £BO5 for 1941-42 as compared with £827 in 1940-41, a decrease of £22.

' Passenger traffic showed a particularly big increase of 15,492 from 37,803 in 1940-41 to 53,295 in 194142* Sheep and pigs also increased from 21,830 in 1940-41 to 23,451 in 1941-42, an increase of 1621. Cattle, however, showed a decrease of 291 head from 37,896 in 1940>-41 to 37,605 in 1941-42. Timber and other-goods showed an increase of 53 tons and 2390 tons respectively.
