VERY SUCCESSFUL
GARDEN PARTY IN PAEROA AFTERNOON AT TENNIS COURTS A very successful garden party was held by the Paeroa Lawn Tennis Club at their courts near the Paeroa District High School on Saturday afternoon when a fair number of patrons enjoyed fully a good afternoon’s entertainment. The courts, set in ideal surroundings looked particularly attractive and ample entertainment was provided by a yankee tennis tournament, clock golf, tunnel croquet and numerous other competitions. At intervals throughout the afternoon the Paeroa Municipal Band rendered enjoyable selections. The bring and buy stall which had been organised ‘by an enthusiastic band of ■ workers did excellent business. An excellent afternoon tea was served. Winners of the competitions .were:
Tunnel croquet.—Ladies: Mrs W. Barclay and Mrs J. McAnally. Men: Messrs 0. A. H. Allison and B. Roberts.
Clock golf.—Ladies: Mrs A. Ripley. Men: Mr 0. A. H. Allison.
The yankee tennis tournament was won by Mrs Broadmore and Mr J. Hill.
As a result of the function approximately £2B will be handed to the Paecoa and District Patriotic Committee for the 1542 All-Purposes Appeal.
