ACCIDENT AT NETHERTON
WORKER’S NARROW ESCAPE
CREAMERY IS IN FULL SWING
( From the Ohinemuri Gazette of April 2, 1901.) An accident happened in Mr - --Moore’s bush a few days ago in.„ i which a sinble man named Alex- - ander Richardson had a narrow escape of losing his life. .It appears a log was being brought — along the tramline and by some means the trucks got' derailed and while the men were jacking them on again, the log slipped back, knocking Richardson down and pinning him to the ground, and only for the end of the log falling on one of the sleepers, he would have been crushed to death. As it was, he Was found to be in an unconscious condition, and had to be carried out on a stretcher. He was put on board the s.s. Waimarie en route for the Thames Hospital. The creamery is in full swing, over 700 gallons of milk being delivered . daily. The tests are not quite so good lately as they might be owing to the wet weather.
