INCREASE IN LOAD

SUBSTATION DOUBLED

VALLEY POWER BOARD

TRANSFER FROM KEREPEEHI.

“Advice has been received from the Public Works Department that they intend to double the capacity of Waihou .Substation, in order to deal with increased loading,” reported the chief engineer, Mr N. G. McLeod, to Tuesday’s meeting of the Thames Valley Electric Power Board.

“They wish also, because of heavy loading on their Bombay section, that we transfer as much load as we possibly can, from the Kerepeehi and Waikino feed points, to the Waihou point of supply. “Unfortunately, due to the war, full equipment for the Waihou substation, and this applies also to Bombay substation, has not yet arrived.

“We can transfer about 650' k.v.a. from the Kerepeehi and Waikino points of supply to Waihou, but this new supply, to a large extent, will not have that closeness of voltage regulation that we have had in the past.. Consumers are asked, therefore, that they bear with us in any exigencies which may arise. The board will endeavour to find the best service possible. “ It is proposed to transfer as much local load as possible to the new unregulated bank of transformers at Waihou, and this will involve the bringing out of a new feeder fiom Waihou substation. This new feeder is already on the scheduled list of work to be done, but its construction must be accelerated because of the situation which has arisen.”
