The Deputy-Mayor, Mr C. F. Butcher, has announced his decision to contest the Waihi Mayoralty. Mr Butcher has served several terms, as Deputy-Mayor and. has been a member of the Waihi Borough Council for 19 consecutive years. £4718 Award To Maoris
Compensation totalling £4718 has been awarded the Maori owners of land taken for river works by the Hawke’s Bay Rivers Board. The Award was made by Mr G. Shepherd, judge of the Native Land Court and it involves eight blocks.
