SHARP DECLINE

BACON BUYERS ABSENT

STOCK SALE AT FRANKTON A substantial decrease in the prices paid for baconers and porkers was the main feature of the weekly stock -ile at the Frankton yards on Tuesday, quotations being down 20s a head for baconers and 7s a head for porkers. Reasons for the sharp decline were the absence of export buying interests and the considerably reduced penning. The entry of ox beef was an average one but juices showed an easing tendency and the market was down a little. Most of the offering comprised medium quality, middle weight beasts, although heavy bullocks sold to £l3 5/-. Prime bullocks made to £lO 10/-, while lighter sorts were obtained for from £7 10/- to £8 11/-.
