MORRINSVILLE VALUES

STATE OF MARKET REFLECTED

A small yarding of sheep was offered at the Morrinsville stock sale on Friday, and quotations showed no alterations on late values. The offering of cattle was much smaller than usual, the reduced numbers no doubt reflecting the unsettled state of the market. In the fat cattle section practically no sales were effected, while no boner cattle were penned. An entry of dairy cattle included only poor quality lots, with top price £5 10s. A full yarding of all classes of pigs met with steady bidding, prices showing a distinct improvement on recent sales.

Farmers’ Auctioneering. — Heavy fat lambs, 23s 6d to 25s 3d; medium, 21s to 22s 9d; killable, 17s lOd to 18s 3d; forward-conditioned white-faced shorn lambs, 16s to 16s 8d; store woolly black ace lambs, Ils; twotooth breeding ewes, r.w.r., 265; mixed age breeding ewes, r.w.r., 24s 6d; fiveyear breeding ewes, 18s 9d to 20s. Medium quality in-calf heifers, £5 10s; yearling Ayrshire heifers, £2 16s; Prime baconers, £4 4s to £3 7s; medium, £2 18s to £3 2s; light, £2 12s to £2 16s; heavy porkers, £2 5s to £2 10s; medium, £2 to £2 4s; light, 32s ‘to 38s; large stores, 26s to 30s; smaller, 18s to 22s 6d; slips, 12s to 16s; weaners, 3s 6d to 10s; pedigree Berkshire boars, 51gns. to 74gns.

WAIHI STOCK SALE

KEEN COMPETITION The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, report at their fortnightly Waihi stock sale on Thursday a light yarding of fat cattle came forward and sold under keen competition, as was also the case with a fair entry of dairy cows and heifers. No boner cows were penned. A small number of sheep met a spirited demand. Pigs were offered in small numbers and late Waikato rates were maintained. Quotations: — Cattle.—Light fat cows, £7; heavy fat Jersey cows, £6 5s to £6 10s; medium, £5 14s to £5 15s; lighter, £5 to £5 3s; Jersey and Jersey cross dairy cows, early calvers, £6 10s; others, later calvers, £4 5s to £4 10s; 2-year m.c. heifers, r.w.b., £4 10s to £4 12s. ■Sheep.—Prime fat hoggets, -275; prime fat lambs, 225. Pigs.—Medium porkers, 39s to £2 4s; light, 31s to 335; large stores, 21s to 225; slips, 8s 6d to 10s 6d; weaners, 2s 6d.
