FAREWELL EVENING

TURD A RESIDENTS LEAVE presentation and social A large and representative gathering of residents of Turua and the surrounding districts attended the dance held in honour of Mr and' Mrs Tynan who, after I's years; have left to reside at Tirohia. Mr J. W. Neate who was M.C., thanked all present for coming along to make the evening such a success and introduced Mr R. Coulter of Te Aroha who ma’de the presentation of a cheque. Mr Coulter said that Mr Tynan had rendered valuable services to the people generally and also to the Labour Party throughout his association with it. 'He expressed the hope that the function would be a tangible expression of appreciation. Mr Tynan had proved himself a faithful worker during the last election campaign, imbued with high motives and giving his services* without reward. It' was a privilege to make the presentation and Mr Coulter wished happiness and prosperity to the family, also expressing regret at their leaving the district.

Mr Tynan, who had been a member of the school committee as well, in returning thanks said that his social work had always given him great pleasure.

The crowd joined in singing “ For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow ” and. dancing was enjoyed until an early hour, the Melody Makers supplying the

music. Amongst those present were: —
