MILITARY TRAINING
EVERY TURK A SOLDIER. Turkey has now joined the nations who are training all their citizens as soldiers from an early age. Defence, as usual, is the reason given. Turkey, it is said, has had “to take measures to guarantee her national security.” Both men and women have duties assigned to them. All Turks become soldiers from 16 until they are 65. Appropriate groups according to age and sex are established which give duties to girls and boys from 16 to 22, to women and men between 22 and 45, while citizens of both sexes between 45 and 65 are assigned suitable duties of a military character.
