PRESENTATION MADE
ORPHANS ORCHESTRA MEMBER TRIBUTES TO BRO. G. PATERSON. The presentation of a fountain pen to Bro. G. Paterson from his fellow orphans was made at the session of the Paeroa Orphans Club on Saturday evening. Bro. Paterson, who is a member of the staff of the Defence Department, has been transferred to Rotorua. While he has been in Paeroa he has been an active member of the orphans club and a player in the orchestra.
“It was with regret that we heard that Bro. Paterson has been transferred to Rotorua,” stated the vice-pre-sident, Bro. E. Edwards, in making the presentation. He expressed appreciation of Bro. Paterson’s services to the orchestra and his enthusiasm as a member. The fountain pen was a token of the members’ esteem and an acknowledgment of his assistance to the club. A warm welcome would await Bro. Paterson should he return to Paeroa, Bro. Edwards stated.
The conductor of the orchestra, Bro. V. J. Innes, also made acknowledgment of Bro. Paterson’s services, not only on the meeting nights, but also at rehearsal. Bro. Paterson’s personality and ready wit would be missed by the members of the orchestra. As a compliment to Bro. Paterson’s nationality the orchestra rendered the Savoy Scottish Melody immediately after the presentation. The recipient expressed his thanks in a short reply.
