DETAILS OF POLLING 1928 AND 1931 In view of the forthcoming Parliamentary election it is interesting to note the polling in this electorate at the past two elections. In 1928, Mr. Samuel (Reform) had a majority of 1294 on the first count over Mr. Montgomerie (Labour) and a majority of 1922 over Mr. McGregor (United) securing 3988 votes of the 8748 cast. In the 1931 contest Mr. Samuel was again elected with a majority of 385 votes over Mr. Montgomerie (Labour) who polled 4026. There were 8437 votes according to the first count.
