SOCIAL NEWS.
Funds for the proposed Ngatea Women’s rest room were raised at a very successful social afternoon held in the Ngatea Hall last Wednesday afternoon by the local committee which coinprises Mesdames E. A. . Mahoney (president), E. Costello (secretary), N. Burke, A. Cleave and P. R. Wilkins. A 500 tournament which was in charge of Mrs Wilkins, was won by Mesdames A. Baxter, Hilton Dalgety, Miss Kleiman and Miss G. Irwin. Competitions were in charge of Mesdames A. Cleave, E. A. Mahoney, E. Costello were won as follows: —Bagatelle, Mrs E. Jackson; ping-pong, Mrs E. Jackson; pegging, the chain, Mrs E. Costello. A sales table in charge of Mrs J. Darlington did good business. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs R. Burke and E. Costello, and Misses A. Fo.ster, M. Burke, Z. Fisher and E. Wheeler.
