Anzac Day will be observed in Paeroa this year on .similar lines as in previous years, including the service in the theatre in the evening if the use of the building can be obtained. Possibly the Hauraki Regimental Band ■will be present.

During the year ended March 31, 1935, building permits to the value of £9,968 were granted by the Paeroa Borough Council. During the past month work valued at £440 was authorised, the works being:—C. Pascoe to effect alterations to office of Hare Bros.; Miss I. Brenan to effect alteration to chimney in dwelling in King Street; W. Preston to erect dwelling Puke Road; J. H. Pasley to effect alteration to dwelling, Seymour Street; E. P. Fathers to make additions to, garage, Arney Street; A. Grigg to make alterations to shop of Farmers Trading Co.

The executive of the Paeroa Rugby Union has decided to defer the opening of the season from April 27 to May 4.

Judgment, for plaintiffs in the following undefended civil cases was given by Messrs J. H. Hodge and J. Glessing, J.P.’s, in the Thames Civil Court on Tuesday:—J. M. Mules v. D.
