CONCENTRATE ON THE EYES

i,; p'INE feathers may give a dash to ■kthe Empress Eugenie hats which ha* caused such a furore in the millinery field—but lovely eyes are as necessary in giving them an alluring finish. This necessitates an additional beauty treatment for the girls who wish to be first to adopt the newest —a treatment that includes the art of knowing how to use the eyes in order to create the right impression. Anita Page, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s ingenue actress, outlines a formula to follow —guaranteed to react toward such charm and beauty that mere man will need to tuck his heart away from his sleeve. Miss Page’s suggestions start with the care of the eyebrows. (1) She discloses that there are eyebrows and eyebrows. Some slant up with an oriental cast, belonging to the almond shape type. Others curve in the Garbo manner — a type that spells sophistication to the ’n’th degree. Then there are the wide apart eyebrows ’ that point downward from the bridge of the nose in a youthful and beguiling manner. There are also eyebrows shaped like Miss Page’s—showing a straight line that adds width to the eyes of round shape. *

Each girl needs to study the shape of her eyes before adopting any of these eyebrow lines. Then, after realising which is the more becoming brow line the girl should go in for training them to grow in this outline. Some use fine combs or tiny brushes—but Anita finds that by stroking the evebrows with the finger tips, they will shape themselves to one s wishes.

The next step toward eye beauty is grooming the brows by pulling out the stray hairs that are out of line, with tweezers.

According to Miss Page this is easier to accomplish if one pencils the wanted line with an eyebrow penci. first, and then removes the hairs that grow out of this outline.

Lesson (2) includes the care of the eyes. To give the best impression under these tip-tilted hats, the eyes should sparkle end flash—dance and smoulder. A witch hazel bath each night does wonders in refreshing the eves. By soaking bits of cotton in the witch hazel and applying these soothing pads over the. eyes they will be as fresh looking as if one had taken a beauty nap.
