SPORTS ASSOCIATION.

FIRST ANNUAL CONCERT. FUNCTION AT KEREPEEHI. Some time earlier in the year it was decided by the executive of the Kerepeehi Sports Committee that a concert would be held for members of the association and friends, to follow closely upon the annual Easter sports. No definite date was fixed, however, and for several months the idea of instituting an annual committeemen’s function was allowed to lie dormant. A short time ago it was revived, and happily terminated on Friday evening in the supper room of the Kerepeehi Hall, where about one hundred merrymakers assembled. Mr J. M. Thompson presided over the gathering, which took the form of a smoke concert. In welcoming the visitors, Mr Thompson stated that the success of this, the first attempt at a concert,, would decide its fixing at an annual function. He hoped next year to see a much increased attendance at a function that would have proved its popularity beyond question. The evening then opened with the toast to the King, proposed by Mr Thompson. The evening continued thereafter in a very enjoyable strain, community singing being especially good. Artists who contributed to the programme are to bo congratulated upon their performances. The function was a success in every respect, and there seems little doubt that the committee will hold a similar one next year. Those who arranged the programme and caused it to be carried through so successfully are to be congratulated upon their good work. The Toast List.
